Let's Get Ridiculous

If this rumble doesn't break us, nothing will! Let's determine what is objectively the best piece of video game music, at least until we take another stab at this.

  • We're going to try to have YouTube or similar links for everything, for your listening pleasure. Assume the one provided is the intended version meant, for games that might have different remixes or hardware revisions, this distinction may or may not matter.
  • I don't know if these links will fit into the title on challonge, so I will provide a supplemental list when we're all set up.
  • The song itself and how/when it appears in game are both fair grounds for debate. A song might just simply bop, or it may come with an amazing emotional hit --- either justification is valid as long as it can be successfully defended. That's the power of video game music!
  • Spoilers must be marked! We have more people this time, and the discussion of some songs' beats in the story is not germane to the defense of a song, so we should mark spoilers for the people who still want to play these games. This is especially true because we have some real heavy hits on here.
  • I don't know how the hell we're going to do this, honestly --- it probably makes sense to see what's up in the next part of the bracket and listen to the songs as you can, rather than going one-by-one in a coordinated effort. We can probably focus better as we get closer to the end.
  • We're following the normal balanced order: winners; then winners, losers, losers; then repeat WLL until we're done. I'll try to pin a message, so we know where we are.
  • Good songs will go out 0-2. That's the nature of this bracket and all the bangers we have in the list.
